The Green Visions Plan Today

Phase I of the Green Visions Plan has been completed. Phase I involved the specification of analytic frameworks to guide the work conducted for each of the three focus areas, the hosting of a workshop to solicit additional ideas and feedback about these frameworks, the creation of an inventory of existing plans in the Plan Area, and the development of a data catalogue to identify gaps in geospatial data and other information that must be filled before more detailed plans and the GIS-based planning tools can be developed. For Technical reports describing Phase I, click here.

A Look Ahead: 2004-2006

In Phase II of the Green Visions Plan, the major tasks identified in the analytic framework are to be undertaken, to identify and assess opportunities for habitat conservation and restoration, open space acquisition and recreational facilities development, and watershed protection efforts. The GIS planning tool and data sets will also be created.

During the Summer of 2005, Green Visions will convene a symposium on progress to date, inviting feedback and ongoing participation from scientific experts and professions, community leaders, and public agencies in the Los Angeles metropolitan region. If you are interested, please let us know.
